A Woman Like You

by Robert Larrabee

I wrote this song while sitting in the movie theater at the end of the movie A Star is Born, I related to the character that Bradly Cooper played, the big difference between myself and that character is I'm still alive.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This in particular tune was influenced by the subject matter from the new version of the movie "A star is Born" the subject matter of that movie was very much like my own life, of course the stardom aspect isn't the same, but the love story and addictions content was. So as I sat in the theater at the end of the movie you could have heard a pin drop, except for the few sniffles and gentle weeping, I started writing the hook at that very moment, "of all the girls I ever knew, I never knew a woman like you" My wife sitting beside me both of us in tears the song flowed out of me, as she and I went through my party days, on the road performing one nighters. It had almost killed me and she gave me a choice, she said I love you but I love me more, I won't live like this, you have to make a choice, come with me and clean up your life or go live it without me. I made the right choice and although it hasn't been easy, it is now 15 years later and are happy and healthy, and most of all more in love now than ever. Like the Bradly Cooper character said in the film, have something to say and sing it from your guts, well this is that song.
