Album Notes
Robert Matter follows up his two previous albums with something new and different. DYRKH (Do You Really Know Him?) is a collection of gospel songs that he wrote during the 1970’s and 1980’s.

DYRKH explores a spiritual dimension of Robert Matter. It demonstrates his ability to transform his inner thoughts and emotions into a musical creation that is both inspiring and entertaining. His delicately crafted lyrics and gentle melodies are delivered with a sensitive and earnest voice compelling the listener to respond in a personal and meaningful way.

These songs may remind the listener of the Jesus Music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. You can definitely hear the influences of artists from that era such as Randy Matthews, Barry McGuire, Honeytree, LoveSong, Larry Norman and 2nd Chapter of Acts.

Included on this album is the song “Tell Me America”. Robert won a "Certificate Of Special Achievement" from "Billboards 1994 Songwriters Competition” for that song. Although that song was written in 1971, it is still relevant today.

Several listeners have commented on this new album:

“Do You Really Know Him?” “Who’s Gonna Tell the People” and “Take Another Look at the Cross” speak volumes in this day and age we live in and will cause many people to pause and reflect when they hear them.

I liked the title song (Do You Really Know Him?)......The words are sooooooo meaningful, you know? You can know ABOUT Him, but .........yeah do you really KNOW Him? LOVE IT.

Where have all the flowers gone?
Classic styling of a bygone era (such as the title of this review). Mr. Matter's voice reminds me of a Cat Stevens/Peter Yarrow cross pollination that I could listen to for hours. I have both of his other albums and try to catch his live shows whenever I am back in the Midwest. Keep telling the story, Mr. Songman....... Two Thumbs Up!!!
