Album Notes
Yoga Nidra comes from an ancient Tantric tradition for cultivating a mental sense of quietude and deep physical and emotional relaxation. Nidra, in Sanskrit, means sleep and the state of Yoga Nidra is one of conscious rest, whereby the practitioner sustains the liminal state between sleep and wakefulness for the duration of the practice. In sleep medicine this state, predominated by alpha brain waves, is called the hypnogogic state. Throughout history some of the greatest minds: Einstein, Niels Bohr, Mozart, Jung have spoken of this state as the realm from which their intuitive insights and creative inspiration have arisen. From the yogic perspective, it is in this state that we are able to by-pss the waking ego that often stands guard, preventing us from dropping into the subconscious or even unconscious levels.

Yoga Nidra plays with this receptivity to free our minds from habitually held beliefs, emotions and thought patterns that entrap us in confusion, fear, anxiety and doubt. The practice requires nothing more than curiosity and a non-judgmental attitude that welcomes whatever arises. This helps re-train our nervous system to become comfortable with the wide-range of potential responses to life that lie between freaking out and checking out. It is in this mid-range of relaxed wakefulness that we meet ourselves with compassion and come to experience the world as a safe and interesting playground for us to explore.

We welcome you to the practice of Yoga Nidra. Robin's soothing voice and beautiful imagery combined with Nancy's melodic, evocative music induce a state of calm well-being, teaching you how to redirect your mind and free your Spirit. Make yourself completely comfortable in a resting position on the floor. I recommend a soft pad or pillow under your head, and a bolster under your knees. Turn off the phone, unplug from the rest of the world and ENJOY!
Blessings, Robin and Nancy

Total Relaxation....

This is a Gift for you.....and for those that know you
Each time I have used this yoga nidra, it is like getting a gift. It is like a surprise gift delivered when you didn’t even know you needed it or even were capable of knowing that you had ordered it. The first time it was a heightened sense of “knowing” what to do next in a certain situation. The second time it was an ability to clearly "see" what path to take like really knowing how to respond to a difficult situation. Then there was the time when anxiety wasn’t even on the radar and I acted like speaking in front of a large group of people was a non-issue. This had always been a big issue before!
Well you just have to sign up for the gift and then see for yourself what present you get.

Coming Home
I am not a stranger to yoga Nidra. I have used this method of relaxing for several years. Soothing the Spirit has brought me more quickly and efforlessly to a state I like to call coming home to my true self. Robin"s voice resonates with the calm place in me. I think the choice of Nancy Rumbel as background is genious. I have listened to her music for years. I have been known to listen to Soothinng the Spirit even before I get up in the morning. It sets my intention of acting and not reacting to whatever the day brings. Enjoy

It works!
After months of sleep problems, I started doing yoga nidra. The first night after doing yoga nidra I slept like a baby. My sleep has improved 1000% since then. The more I do nidra, the better I sleep. After trying a bunch of nidra CD's, I was excited to hear Robin's masterful production. Her soothing words/voice accompanied by Nancy Rumbel's gorgeous playing make it the perfect experience for me.

Nidra for Sleep
Thank you Robin from a chronic insomniac. When my body gives me the early wake up call, I just plug in my earbuds and your voice sends me back to la la land. Nidra is my new mantra.
