ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Long awaited followup to acclaimed mid '90's pop gems "Swimming Lesson" and "Wonderwood". "The Iron Age" expands on Laufer's knack for gorgeous folk/pop texture and brainy beautiful lyrics. Hear A+ songwriting, some very bitchen guitar playing, and a voice like liquid silver. The song "In the Frame" is currently used in HP's "picture frame" TV ad campaign.

Ramon-Barcelona.

record of the year
If you like pop rock music and only got money for buying one disc, do yourself a favour and buy Iron Age, in my opinion the best 2006 record. Thanks for coming back Rob, music lovers need your fantastic melodies.

Best of 2006
Overall probably a four star recording; however, there are a few songs on this wonderful peice of work that are as good as anything I have heard in a very long time. Rob Laufer can clearly play the guitar and sing with the best of them. His CD Swimming Lessons was on my Best of the 90s List (read by all of my friends). What I love most about this record is that he actually has something to say. And though that is still out there, you're not likely to get run over by it. Step out into the street. You'll be glad you did.

In an already impressive body of outstanding work, here is yet another that will stand the test of time. From start to finish, from one song to the next, we are taken on a journey to the heart of the matter, led by a master guide. For the aspiring singer/songwriter, please take note-this is how it's done.
Oh Angelyne, are you listening?

Inspired Writing and Production
The writing and production of this album is highly inspired, drawing references to the best periods of classic rock, folk and pop. It's a rare find, since so much these days sounds generic and interchangable between artists. Here, I discern a true artistic signature style, which is such a fresh breath of air.

Mesmerizing master songwriter at work!!
Anyone acquainted with Rob's two previous cds will know how good he is but this betters both of those discs. There's a more electric feel and it works brilliantly.Unique Laufer melodies sit alongside Ron Sexsmith's best. Twists and turns of melody at every stage with standouts such as "Starstuff", "Girl in Garnetts","Sweet Downfall" and best of all "Backseat", where he sings "I had no plans to write this song" -glad you did! A mesmerizing master songwriter at work!!
