ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Fom rockin strums to finger-picking ballads Rob Lord has managed to produce a great mix of alternative new tunes for the Holiday Season. Some are plain-old fun and others for those who think deeply about the real reason for the season.

Reviews have been outstanding with such descriptions as “refreshingly fun”, “heartfelt and soulful”, “deeply unique”, “reflective”, “spiritually comforting”.

Each song has a different sound and flavor. Some are playful and light. Others are deeper. Many ask the listener to think about the true reason for Christmas and Christ’s message of love and kindness.

Rob Lord is an acoustic guitarist and singer/songwriter based in San Diego, CA. He wrote his first Christmas song in early December 2007...something he wanted to do for years. He was highly inspired and completed writing 11 more songs within the month! Being moved by this creative event Rob had these songs professionally produced for the 2008 Christmas Season.

All lyrics are included in each CD. ENJOY!!!

Yes, five stars
It's tough to be critical of an effort like this on a Christmas disc. Being original is one thing, but originality and listenability on a Christmas disc is a rare thing indeed, and 12.25 provides both in abundance.

What I love about this disc (OK, one of the many things I love about this disc) is how it wraps a big ole bow around both the sacred and the secular, without pitting one against the other or leaving you feeling that one side was a throw in to balance off the other. These are great songs of the season, regardless of what you'd consider the reason for it.

On the sacred side, it's obvious that Rob is both familiar with the Christmas story, and the man we celebrate. And yet he doesn't bask in the glow of the manger scene but instead pricks the heart, the mind and, dare I say it, even the soul with the spirit and life of the man who was born in that manger, challenging the listener to remember that it was a life worth remembering more than once a year. Songs like "Peace On Earth", "Be Attitudes" and "His Heart Inc." are not only challenging, but I challenge you not to wake up with them running through your mind after 1 or 2 listens. The melodies are strong and memorable, as every good Christmas song should be. And borrowing from an old classic, "2b Christian" is as thought provoking as it may be accusatory - but think deeply first lest the first stone cast be yours!!

But don't think that this disc is overly heady with things spiritual, as there are some great (yes, I said "great") songs about the day that ushers in that last week of the year. From the joy of giving and receiving found in "Wrappin Paper" to the youthful rememberances of Christmases long ago in "Bag Of Coal" to the wonder of Christas in the tropics of "12.25" to the heartfelt reflections of "Grateful" there are no throw-aways here. Again, something nearly impossible to do on a Christmas disc filled with originals.

Rob Lord has managed to, in very a short time if you believe what he says, pull in from the ether the many sides of Christmas and tied them up in sweet little package that has me looking forward to Christmas even before the malls can decorate.

I'd love to see what he could do with Arbor Day!! :-)

Very Unusual Christmas Album
You've all seen them in the stores around the holidays: chia pets, ornaments, lights, and the proverbial recordings and CD's that define a traditional Christmas. Rob Lord has taken a big gamble here. He has put together an all-original Christmas disc for the thinking person. And it is with that notion that he helps us transverse a world fraught with so many difficulties. His effort is not all serious though. This album is also filled with remembrances of childhood, and a playfulness that imbibes us not to take ourselves too seriously. There is also some beautiful and idea-provoking imagery in the lyrics here. "Centuries have past… life is more complex…the tallest buildings once were steeple crowned..." I highly recommend this album to anyone who wants a change from the ordinary during the holidays. You will note that Ron did not put a year in the title. “12-25” will be appropriate any Christmas for a long time to come. Buy this most thought provoking and all original album. You won’t be sorry.
