by Rob Lutes & Rob MacDonald

Rob Lutes and Rob MacDonald have developed the rare ability to seamlessly blend their individual sounds—Lutes’ powerful acoustic fingerstyle and soulful, husky baritone and MacDonald’s virtuoso resophonic guitar accompaniment—into one that is exceptionally intricate and intense. LIVE combines 10 original songs from Lutes’ four studio CDs with four scorching covers from the blues and R&B cannon.

Album Notes
“ A gem. Among the best in a crowded roots field.”
– Toronto Star

“ this CD is the culmination of a number of years of these two extraordinary artists working together. Rob Lutes has quietly become one of the finest singer-songwriters in the country.”
– Matt Large, Hello Darlin Produductions

Rob MacDonald and I started playing together in the late 90s when we did a series of launch shows for a blues compilation CD. Since then, we’ve toured Canada, the US and Europe, performing at theatres, bars, festivals, coffee houses and pretty much everything in between. Over the years, many people
have encouraged Rob and me to record a show and release it as an album. Well, to all of you, here it is.

The CD you’re holding was recorded on a cold, snowy Saturday, January 29th, 2011, at the very intimate “Le Red Room” in the town of Glenn Sutton about an hour and a half from Montreal. Rob and I think it captures some of the magic we’ve experienced on the stage over these years.

Thanks to all the friends and fans who’ve been there to share it with us.
