Rob McNurlin grew up in eastern KY surrounded by music . The hymns at church , his parents record collection , the Johnny Cash Show on television ,a busted harmonica from his grandmother and a guitar on his ninth Christmas all combined to place him on a very musical path. He began writing songs in high school and learning hundreds of folk , gospel and hillbilly-blues songs.
Rob has recorded and toured with Ramblin' Jack Elliott. Toured with Hot Tuna and shared the stage with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, John Prine ,Riders in the Sky, Marty Stuart and others. He's released 4 cds including "Cowboy Boot Heel" recorded at the Cash Cabin Studio , produced by John Carter Cash with guest Ramblin' Jack Elliott and 2003's "Lonesome Valley Again" which reached #26 on the FAR charts and # 55 on the Americana Music charts. Credits also include musical scores for two award winning documentarys and songs on several compilation cds.

His New CD "BUFFALO SKINNERS" is a collection of traditional songs performed by Rob and his band The Beatnik Cowboys.
