Album Notes
Rob Tobias and Friends play an uplifting brand of folk-pop with lyrics of social and environmental consciousness. The group features the harmonies and fiddles of the "Soul Sisters", twins, Kriss and Kathy plus the guitar playing of Ralph Novak along with the songwriting, guitar, harmonica, and keys of Rob Tobias. Classic covers live along side of Tobias's progressive folk-pop sing-dance-tap-along hand-made songs.

The song Clean Energy was written for an event that was part of a global Climate Change awareness day. The song was written in a sing along layered parts mode but has developed into a dance and celebration of the planetary movement towards using only renewable resources for our energy. More songs on this theme can be found on Rob Tobias and Friends CDs on cdbaby.com and robtobias.com.

Rob Tobias writes and plays roots music inspired by blues, jazz, folk/rock, reggae, pop, soul, sing-along and spiritual styles. Tobias lives in Eugene, Oregon and has his own stamp of originality that is both familiar and distinctive. Rob sings, plays piano, guitar, harmonica, and percussion and collaborates with a talented group of musicians including his group “The Northwest Express.” His songs have been used in theatre projects, Jewish Renewal and Interfaith services, video productions, commercials and as part of sustainability, and peace and non-violence conferences.

Rob Tobias first CD, "Constant Rain", features several swing blues tunes as well as a small choir (directed by John Gainer with members of Inspirational Sounds) backing up some of the songs. "Bagel Roots & Water Dogs,” has more of an acoustic folk sound but also explores a variety of styles including swing blues, reggae, and rock. "Sparks,” lyrically reflects an interest in Jewish renewal and a song cycle inspired by Jewish celebrations. “World in the World”, explores themes of peace, justice, love, family, and spirit and includes a popular medley “Peace Train / Od Yavo.” “By The River”, includes songs inspired by a “Bridges to Israel” tour and contains more songs written in the Jewish renewal style including a reggae cover of “By Rivers of Babylon.” "Rob Tobias and The Northwest Express came out in January of 2011 and features a mix of blues, jazz, reggae, and singer songwriter styles.
