Vuelo Letal

by Rocafuerte

The debut album from an up-and-coming NYC latin hard rock band. Combining aggressive riffs, Spanish lyrics ranging from introspection to unrequited love and melodic, bluesy solos, this self-produced effort is an entertaining and concise collection.

Album Notes
Rocafuerte was formed in the summer of 2008 and after a few roster changes, the band was finalized with Alfred Gatling (lead guitar), Nilo Leon (bass), Napoleon Tercero (drums) and Xavier Acosta (rhythm guitar and vocals).

Alfred and Xavier have known each other since college where they started a hard rock band and have since remained friends. Eventually, Xavier and Al formed an alternative rock band called Xavier, where most of the songs were originals composed in Spanish. Xavier wrote songs in both Spanish and English in an attempt to connect with both markets. However, after looking for other influences it was decided that the band would continue as a Spanish rock band.

With this decision the search for new musicians began, which was important to make sure there was creative unity within the band. The first member to join the group was Nilo, a friend of Xavier’s girlfriend. She had mentioned that he played the bass; however it had been a long time since Nilo had picked up his bass. After the call was made, Nilo could not let the opportunity pass and accepted the offer to join the band. The search for a drummer was more challenging and pushed Xavier to search social networking sites like Myspace and Hi5. This yielded one lead that lasted a few months but unfortunately it did not work out. The second attempt to find a drummer was through the same medium and resulted in finding Napoleon who became part of the band in September 2008, completing Rocafuerte.

The band members are glad to call themselves friends and always look forward to playing different venues bringing a mix of classic Spanish rock and a twist of metal to the public of New York.
