ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This December, Rock-a-Baby, NYC & New England's much loved infant and toddler music group, will be releasing their third album, Old MacDonald and Other Historical Figures. The new songs dig deeper into musical concepts like dynamics, range and chord patterns with the help of puppets aptly named Rhythm, Melody & Harmony. Children explore body movement with the tune, You Can Dance and learn they can “save the day” by counting to four in Count it Off.

Old MacDonald may not be an historical figure in the usual sense, but to any 5 year old, he's the George Washington of children's music. Besides Old MacDonald, kids have their own canon of important people... There's the Grand Old Duke of York, Old King Cole, the elusive "she" of She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain fame. And there are well known puppet characters - some quite old yet still recognizable. Kermit, Piggy, Pinocchio, Elmo, and for 'older' kids there's the cast of Avenue Q, Alf, Triumph the Insult Dog, Falcor... The new R-a-B CD touches on ALL of those "historical" characters by mixing classics like Old MacDonald and She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain and new favorites like Freeze Out and Dozens of Cousins. Everyone will find a song (or ten!) that they love. Rock-a-Baby's three puppets, Rhythm, Melody and Harmony lead the brigade, with friends from class and new characters joining in to sing along. There's tons of new music both entertaining and educational - great for a road trip, a dance party in the living room, or a wind down at the end of the day. And as a bonus they've included a coloring book insert with the CD.

All original songs were written and produced by Rhode Island native, and NYU certified music educator and Rock-a-Baby founder, Marc Trachtenberg and are performed by the Rock-a-Baby band, comprised of Marc Trachtenberg, Benjamin Tilchin, Rachel O'Connell, Courtney Woods, Ben Poole, plus special guests of family and friends.

"Our daughter loves Rock-a-Baby, she knows the CD by heart! She loves this class and as a music lover so do I." - Farah
