ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lyrics and Music : Roddo Fab
Vocals and Instruments: Roddo Fab

One-man studio band RODDO FAB INDUSTRIES returns with an album of unforgettable , retro-style tunes inspired by The Beatles, solo Lennon and Harrison, The Rutles, Robyn Hitchcock , and Squeeze.
Roddo Fab has toiled away in the cozy environs of the bonsai desert, super-secret, Cacti Road Studios to bring you truly original songs containing actual, real music- not 21st century noise and babbling, mind you - and the feel and flavour of the 60’s, 70’s, and a touch of the 80’s. The RODDO FAB INDUSTRIES sound has been called “Art-Pop”: Songs that make you think a bit, but are also infectious, unassuming, memorable, and genuinely musical . A splash of Merseybeat, a touch of Motown, a hint of New Wave, a ½ teaspoon of Jazz, a whisper of the Psychedelic, and a whole ton of old-fashioned, high quality tunesmith work creates the RODDO FAB INDUSTRIES recipe for serving up Pop delicacies.

Sugar Plum Plastic tells of a man bewitched by a ballerina whose love wore as thin as the layers of a cheap plastic Christmas ornament. A mid-60’s styled musical confection!

Purple Streets brings you the sense of a melancholic, lonely man on a stroll through the pre-dawn , psychedelic, chilled city; perhaps Liverpool , perhaps your own home town ; perhaps, someone you know…

Miss You Like Crazy brings you the simple , early 70’s, George Harrison -inspired feel of folksiness and an experience of separation not unknown to us all.

Paper Towel, inspired by the Rutles, expresses the annoyances of everyday life through a fast-paced, quasi-Merseybeat , danceable accompaniment.

Take Me Back harkens to the Beatle-esque ballads of the past … remembrance of golden days in the stands of desert cottonwood …

Wake Up Call rousts a man from the complacent slumber known as his relationship, creating a
John Lennon-meets-New Wave aura.

See You There describes a sweet love, Motown style, in heavy syrup, with a right sprightly beat that will set your toes-a-tappin’!

To Be ponders the question of our reality: What are we making of our lives? Are we actually attending to the fact of our being one with Eternity? Why does time, indeed, appear to float by as a colourful parade of events? If I wore Sharkskin Suits, I’d go out and sell things …very nicely orchestrated with a Jazzy vibe…

Picture of Health is a rock-n-roll ditty dedicated to everyone’s health: We may have inhalers, potions and pills, but only spirit’s gonna cure our ills.

Pity Party blends a 60’s- inspired pop melody with something to think about the next time you turn on the news. Do you trust what you’re hearing?
