ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Zuleika" is the soundtrack for a romantic musical comedy/rock opera about a globe-trotting magician who is irresistably attractive. Describes love with all its hope, joys, and pains. A roller-coaster ride of emotions with one hour of music.

If you have ever stayed awake at night desperately dreaming about someone, this is the album for you.

If your whole happiness has ever depended upon whether or not someone else will be happy to see you, this is also the album for you.

But if you think love is always fun and games and ends like a fairy tale, this is not the album for you.

And if you think love is something to be taken up and put down between sips of champagne and bites of caviar, this is also not the album for you.

Love can soothe like water and cut like a knife.

"Zuleika" is about a magician who plays foolish tricks, who toys with men's hearts. Blue skies can turn cloudy depending upon whether she smiles or frowns.
Zuleika is a magician who makes the impossible seem not only possible but within reach. In the blink of an eye, the curtain comes down and the magician vanishes. She will never reveal her secret to anybody, especially to those who dare love her.

Songs in "Zuleika: The Musical"

Kiss Me Awake: After long discouragement, a fascinating person enters your life and you feel a sudden burst of stimulation and joy.
Overdrive: Instead of carefully waiting to decide whether someone is really the right person, you want to pull them towards you instead of wasting any more time.
So Easy: After repeated failures it's so easy to totally give up and feel that all love is hopeless in the future.
Is This Love: Is it the real thing or are you going down the wrong path, doomed to another disappointment? One is torn between feelings of hope and fear.
Zuleika: When love is in your grasp, and it suddenly slips away, you plead your case and hope the loved-one has a change of heart.
Telephone Girl: Because love can be cruel, people look for sexual pleasure that carries no deep personal attachment. A comic song.
Give You My Heart: Swept away by emotion, this is a declaration of love.
Johnny: A plea for forgiveness and reconciliation after one has hurt the feelings of someone who loves you.
Guilty: On a downward spiral, and uncertain what the future will bring, you may feel a burden to others and warn them to stay away from a bad influence.
Breakers: Another song of approaching peril as innocent people seem unaware or unwilling to deal with a problem.
Make-Believe: After the fantasy which you have constructed comes crashing down, you tell the person who hurt your feelings to back off.
Nosedive: A blues song after you realize that love has tricked you and all your hopes have come to nothing.
Tapping Song: A comic inspirational song for people in need.
Afterthought: After you have broken up with someone, you may have second thoughts and doubt the true nature of your feelings.
Self-Destruction: Under the grip of despair, confusion, and anger, you may turn your aggressive feelings onto yourself.
Warm Front: A sudden ray of light at the end of the tunnel.
Squirm: A person who desperately needs love may finally realize they may not be worthy of it, even though "loveless lives are of no worth."
