Album Notes
In "The Storyteller" Roger's voice is that of his handmade flutes, the haunting melodies are a blend of contemporary and traditional Native Flute sounds that speak to our souls with the voice of our ancestors. Each song was born with it's own personality and own story to tell. All Flutes, Drums and Rattles used on this CD were handcrafted by Roger in his studio at WIND DANCER FLUTES. A professional sculptor, Roger often found inspiration in the variety of music he listened to while sculpting. He was particularly captivated by the haunting tones of the Native American Flute. He set out to learn as much as possible about the small instrument with the powerful voice. His plan was to make just one flute for himself. His "flute journey" had just begun! "Being a self-taught artist, I feel the culmination of all my passions harmonized; sculpting, wood work, leather work, wood burning, bead work, painting, music.....all found in this beautiful instrument, what more could one ask?" At WIND DANCER FLUTES, Roger creates all his flutes by hand, using files, chisels and hand tools to shape the wood. All holes are burned in with a hot metal rod. The artwork, painting, wood burning and sculpture are done by free hand. After completing the art, the flute is then coated with a non-toxic finish inside and out to protect from moisture, then coated with bees wax for added protection. As many of his clients are recording or performing artists, Roger uses an electronic tuner to insure the flutes are of concert quality in sound and tone. BACKGROUND- Roger was born in the Bayou Country of South Louisiana, where at an early age he developed a love for the outdoors as well as art. He has traveled the US and Europe, and has experimented and persevered in many art mediums. Roger is a Veteran of the Viet Nam war. he served with the 815th Combat Engineers 1969-1970 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE - Between 1979-1981 Roger brought the works of many artists to life in Bronze while working at the "Spokane Bronze" foundry and then managing the "artisan Bronze" foundry in Spokane, Washington. His style continued to develop while designing, and managing "Valley Bronze" foundry in Joseph, Oregon (1981-1983) After leaving the foundry business Roger returned to the Walla Walla valley in Washington State with his family and set up his art studio where he continues his sculpting today. MAJOR WORKS - Roger has completed 3 major monuments, all Veteran's Memorials, and is currently working on his 4th. VETERAN'S MEMORIAL - VFW SALEM , OREGON - was commissioned by the Oregon's Veteran's of Foreign Wars organization and is placed in Salem, Oregon. The 8 foot monument portrays a 24" soldier standing atop a 5 foot Earth Globe, with a 12" marble base. It was unveiled on May 30th 1986. VIET NAM VETERAN'S MEMORIAL - SANDY, OREGON - was again commissioned by the VFW and placed in a dedicated memorial park. The 7 foot 6" Viet Nam era soldier, complete with worn boots, equipment belt and M16 rifle, stands upon a 3 foot, two tiered exposed aggregate cement base. It was unveiled on Veteran's Day, November 11th 1987. " "GENERAL WAINWRIGHT" MEMORIAL - WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON - is a larger-than-life monument of General Jonathan M. Wainwright. The statue was unveiled at VA Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington, on Veteran's Day, November 11th 1996, and the Hospitals' name was officially changed to The Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veteran's Affairs Medical Center. WALLA WALLA, WASHINGTON - the 4th statue, in progress is of Walla Walla Great Chief Peopeopmoxmox. The commemoration of this Chief and the Native American heritage of the Walla Walla Valley is long past due. Plans are for this statue to be unveiled during the sesquicentennial observance (June 11th 2005) of the Steven's Treaty Council, in Walla Walla, Washington. SHOWS and collection placements - Roger has exhibited many wildlife and human form pieces in art shows in Eugene, Oregon; Kalispell and Great Falls Montana; Ellensburg, Washington as well as the M.O.N.A.C. Western Art Show and Auction in Spokane, Washington. Several private shows have resulted in placement in private collections throughout the U.S. Canada and Japan

I couldn't be more pleased with my CD entitled "The Storyteller." I'm extremely impressed with the composition, the soothing flute playing, and the feelings that it leaves me everytime I play it. Roger McGee did one fantastic job! He inspired me to spend more time playing my own NAF's. I'm also impressed with the timeliness, packaging, and quality of tape sent out by CDBaby. I will certainly recommend this CD to others as well as purchase more items through CDBaby. GREAT JOB!
