“Ron Levy is one of the finest young masters of the Hammond B-3. Here are 11 soul-satisfying cuts that feature Levy's funky keyboard playing -- many written by Levy himself. Those who look for B-3 jams in the soul-jazz vein that are as funky as can be will not be disappointed. This is a great CD to own.”

by Michael Erlewine - All Music Guide [AMG]

“Levy imbues each and every note with real expression, conveying jubilation or deep thoughtfulness in decisive straightforward terms. In his hands [and feet], the B-3’s robust tones burrow pleasurably into our auditory canals then implode upon reaching the middle ear. The afterglow, know to all organ buffs, is indescribable.”

Mr. Levtron

20th Anniversary!
This was my first solo album for Rounder's Bullseye Blues imprint for which I was the main A&R guy & producer. Living Blues awarded me 'Producer of the Year' the following year. My artists & productions were nominated for 9 Grammys, won 4 WC Handys and many other awards during my tenure. I recorded these tracks over a span of a year or so during and in-between various sessions. This album garnered rave reviews from downbeat, Jazziz, Blues Revue, Living blues and many Blues society rags and newspapers etc.

I wrote the 2 Albert Collins tunes on the spur of the moment when Charles Brown failed to show up for a joint Charles & Albert session I had planned. He was dejected after not winning a Grammy the night before.

My old pal Gray Sargent on guitar contributed greatly on a few cuts. He was touring with Illinois Jacquet at the time. He's been Tony Bennett's guitarist for many years since. Also, this was 'Sax' Gordon's first appearance as a Wild Kingdomite, a relationship which continues to this day. He's featured on several cuts on my 2012 release 'Funky Fiesta'.

So after 20 years, this out of print album [due to being sold out and change of ownership of Rounder] is again now available to a whole new generation of fans & friends as well as some of my older fans who may have missed out on this release here on Cdbaby and my music store on my Facebook fan page. I urge you to sign up on the FB fan page through my Levtron [dot] com website. Thanks much and hope you enjoy these tunes, many more in the future and all those in-between.
