Album Notes
Rose is a singer and acoustic musician from the UK’s North West, with a distinctive style and creative interpretation of songs across a range of genres. She has previously performed both as a solo and band musician in UK clubs, theatres and festivals, and is currently recording her long-time-coming debut solo album, expected in Spring 2013. Her early influences included James Taylor, The Beatles, Janis Ian, Paul Simon, Procol Harum and Neil Young, as well as Brit folk rock's Pentangle and Steeleye Span. These are still among her favourite bands/musicians, as well as (for example) Fleet Foxes and Jim Moray. Rose's cover version of Lester Simpson’s poignant, but never cloying, Standing in Line (2000) encapsulates vivid and iconic images of the soldier’s Great War: from the naive enthusiasm of voluntary enlistment to the stark reality of the frontline experience.
