Album Notes
These songs are a little different
Please show them to your church leader/s

Most of the songs we sing in church are Songs of Praise. That's as it should be.
After all Jesus died for us. He atoned for our sins. We have felt His sacrifice and we joyfully sing His praise.

BUT are we missing something when we sing ?
Are we missing the scriptures ? Are we missing JESUS THE TEACHER ?
The Bible says : 'Take my yoke upon you and LEARN FROM ME and you will find rest for your souls ..' Matthew 11 : 29-30

Jesus also taught us by His perfect example how to live our lives.
Yet we seldom remind ourselves in song of the scriptures which should guide our lives.
Surely then as we have heard His teaching we must also honour Him by articulating in song the lessons He has taught us by His perfect example.

Music is an incredibly powerful medium.
I prayed that God would both inspire and enable me to write music which was perhaps a little different from other praise and worship songs many of which have so incredibly inspired me.

Such is my growing passion for this God who had in His perfect time given my life renewed purpose that I began to listen even more intently to the messages at my local church each week and to make notes as I listened. I made a commitment to composing appealing, singable songs which not only praise God but would embody the sentiments of His Word.

I decided to call my first album : Your Word My Song.
I have just completed my second album. It is entitled ; Thy Will Truly Done

To realise this vision I was determined to listen more carefully each Sunday to God’s Word and became so inspired that I was able to compose fourteen songs which I trusted would reflect God’s message for our lives.
Every song was inspired by scripture.
Nevertheless I felt that I needed a special voice to sensitively and passionately bring these songs to life. As is so often the case when we put God first something usually happens when God is ready.
Some dear friends from our church, Vic and Julie Stewart, invited us to an amateur theatre production of My Fair Lady. It was a trip down memory lane and we enjoyed it so much. Near the finale of the production out onto the stage stepped a young man to sing. His most beautiful tenor voice was so captivating that the audience applauded spontaneously as one.
I felt God’s timing.
This was the voice I needed for my songs.
This young man’s name was Alastair Cooper-Golec. He was just twenty one.
After several attempts over many months I finally tracked him down and he agreed to come to our home and hear the songs which I had composed. I showed him the lyrics. He loved them and related to them and asked to hear the music. I then played the songs for him thinking that he may perhaps (albeit with the utmost diplomacy) reject them and be on his way.
To my delight he said he loved them. ‘When can we start recording?’ he asked. I was elated.

We went on to produce fourteen songs on both CD and a DVD (for churches to play and perhaps sing during Offering etc) both of which include a Vocal and Instrumental version and alternatively an Instrumental Only version.
Each song on the DVD's features lyrics for singing on a screen many of which were enhanced by the most beautiful photography courtesy of Travis Easton as each song unfolds. Every CD jacket includes lyrics.

Whatever happens this has been an incredible learning curve.
It feels good to play a part in getting God’s Word out there in song in a world which seems in moral freefall.

Album 1
Your Word My Song

' ... God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in times of trouble ... ' Psalm 46 : 1
which reminds us that God is all that we need in order to lead a truly fulfilled life.
' ... Love each other as I have loved you ...' John 15 :12
which encourages us to love one another as Jesus loves us. Jesus’ love is unconditional and we should aspire to emulate this perfect unconditional love in order to encourage others to seek out Jesus.
' ... Come to me all ye who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest ... ' Matthew 11 : 28
reassures us that when we can’t manage life on our own and we are not in control God is always there for us. We need only reach out to Him in prayer and we will in time be unconditionally comforted even though we may feel unworthy of His love.
' ... I have come that they may have life ; and that they may have it more abundantly ... ' John 10 :10
serves to remind us that it is only by really connecting with God everyday in everything we say and do that we can truly experience the fruits of His love
' ... The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom ...' Psalms 111:10
reassures us that God is all powerful and all knowing and that we should follow His Word without question.
' ... Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time ... ' Ecclesiastes 3 : 11
encourages us when we are impatient for God to change something in our lives that as long as we live according to His will, things will change but only in His perfect time.
' If then God so clothed the grass .... how much more will He clothe you ...' Luke 12 : 27-40
reminds us to look around us and truly see the grace and love of God in the everyday images of our world. To know that He created all that is beautiful and that even greater than this is His love for us.

Album 2
Thy Will Truly Done

' ... Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding ... ' Proverbs 3 : 5-6
teaches us that life often seems too difficult to understand and that we are not meant to understand everything. God is in complete control.
' ... but the fruit of the spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control ... ' Galatians 5 : 22 composed to remind us of the Fruit of the Spirit to which we should all aspire if we are to be more like Jesus
' .... Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you ... ' Matthew 6:33
which encourages us when we pray to first ask God to guide us to fulfill the purpose He has for or lives.
' ...My grace is sufficient for you. My power is made perfect in weakness ... ' 2 Corinthians 13 : 8-10
really impacts you when you are trying so hard to do the right thing but things just don't seem to be working out for you. It may well be God's way of reassuring you that you're on track with His purpose after all and to persevere even through the pain.
' ... If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it will be done unto you ... ' John 15 : 7 reminds us to align with God's purpose and to pray like Jesus to enable the holy spirit to intervene to make our prayers come true. There are times when we feel so very close to Jesus and payers come easily.
' ... There is therefore now no condemnation to those whom are in Christ Jesus ' Romans 8 : 1
reminds us that when everything in our lives seems hopeless; when God is not uppermost in our minds ; this is the most important time to seek God in prayer and to garnish Him with praise.
' .... Thy will be done as it is in heaven ... ' The Lord's Prayer
reminds us that if we follow the example of Jesus we will be following God's purpose and doing God's will. All our prayers will then be answered.

These are just some of the lessons which Jesus has taught me.
I hope that when you sing and share the sentiments within these songs you too will feel that you are more earnestly praising Him and therefore more fully fulfilling His complete purpose for your life.
