Before It Comes Apart

by Rough Age

Before It Comes Apart is well-titled- well-crafted songs performed with a shuddering recklessness, as if about to rip open. Rough Age has pinched techniques from classic power-pop and Americana to cast a light on the uncanny in all its forms.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Started in April 2012, Rough Age consists of frontman Nathan Archer, bassist extraordinaire Tracy Santa, and veteran drummer Michael Salkind. They play a unique brand of pub rock and Americana infused with irresistible hooks, driving beats, and shit-eating irony.

Bill Forman (Colorado Springs Independent) wrote, "Archer's a gifted songwriter and vocalist, and the band's overall sound is reminiscent of Elvis Costello when he still had it." Taking cues from classic songwriters such as Costello, Tom Waits, and David Lowery, the band combines a twisted sense of humor with a keen ear for melody. This Americana-damaged trio comes apart in a compelling way, revealing more evocative images and haunting sounds with every listen.
