ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
While officially released on September 1st 2019, Ayesha is a compendium of 10 years of composition.

The oldest song, 'Longing', was originally composed in 2007 when Rowan was 19. Rowan continued to compose music for multiple instruments for the following decade, culminating in the final piece written for Ayesha, 'Gabrielle'.

The project was conceived as an EP, but gradually grew into a full length album, that aimed to elucidate 10 years of lived experience, into 10 tracks of neo-classical music.

Ayesha ropes in the sombre minimalism of Phillip Glass, pretty melodies of Yann Tiersen, the romance of Ludovico Einaudi, and marries them to the moribund angst of Radiohead and Nirvana. Ayesha sees the piano used as both a delicate classical and aggressive rock instrument, and many things in between.

While sometimes genre defying, Ayesha always endeavours to adhere to what it means and feels to be human.
