ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
How many ways can a love song be written? How many times have they been sung? Millions of times and millions of ways, but they can only be sung once like Royal Wade Kimes sings them. As for writing a song, no one, and we mean no one writes like the Gentleman Outlaw Royal Wade Kimes. Ask Nashville, they've tried to get him to teach writing seminars for their Music Row writers, but to no avail. Kimes doesn't write formula or teach it either. You will see, hear and experience that when the songs go down.

Love of a Cowboy is romantic, eluding, sentimental, filled with success and failure, hope, and yet no hope. What I am about to say here is not bunk, hype or a sales pitch... it's truth. I'm not afraid to say the following, though it's a big statement... trust me, Love of a Cowboy will back it up. "Not since the days of music legends Elvis Presley, Eddy Arnold, and love song crooner Dean Martin has an album emerged with so much gold inside. As I sit here making that bold comment, it came to me... Kimes is one of the elite, one of a handful that can deliver a song with powering emotion, tenderness, magic, and lastly, make it your song.

Today, most take a cd out of its case and throw away the rest, but even the cover art is five star. The Gentleman Outlaw stands out on the front porch of the beautiful historic "Clayton House" built in 1892 along the Arkansas River bank, and looks across the openness. When studying the picture, it tells a story, and when you open the record, you immediately go... "Wow, now I know why he is staring off into the distance." Examine the smudge on the wine glasses. Then check out the picture where Kimes is standing alone holding a glass of wine, the beautiful and expensive silver tray sitting behind him. What that picture will say is... here's a man that maybe has money, has it all, but still something is wrong. You can have it all, but if you don't have the love of your life in your life, it's hard to be happy. Love of a Cowboy doesn't try to sell you on love and life being easy and always working out like a Walt Disney movie. Love of a Cowboy is a brilliantly produced record with incredibly written songs, making the production and art work of the record worth it. There's not anything worse than having a record that looks beautiful, is loaded with magical music licks and then the songs and artist aren't worthy of the musicians time. That's not the case here. Love of a Cowboy is 'package complete' from the first down beat to the last. They must have had a blast cutting this one!.
