Album Notes
Roy began playing with pop rock band the The Noble Brothers Band in the Washington, D.C. area during the era of Artful Dodger and 4 out of 5 Doctors. Pop songs with an edge were always pushing him forward. Then a sharp turn in the road lead him to a country band by the name of The Stone Gap Band… playing with industry gunslingers like Dennis Richey of Van McCoy's band. Playing covers from the likes of Merl Haggard and Jerry Jeff Walker became new influences in his musical education and would play a big part in his songwriting in years to come. Upon relocating to Richmond, VA Roy joined forces with multi-instramentalist and composer Matthew Costello to begin writing music and learning the craft of being a songwriter. After various stints as a solo artist and working with a trio out of Baltimore, Roy settled in Seattle where he has found his musical stride and penned some of the best work of his career, wearing engineer and producer hats this time with the assistance of Jeff Severson from 4 out of 5 Doctors. His previous release, PRETTY WORLD, produced by Jeff, is also available in CD format or as a download.
