ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Four years after the release of his debut album, All is Well, Roy Peak is returning with nine original songs and a rocking cover of the classic Gillian Welch song "Look at Miss Ohio" which Roy had previously released as a single in 2016. "Peak ratchets up both the volume and subtle, simmering angst at the song’s very core," was one of the remarks from the noted blog CoverMeSongs.com who picked this version as one of the best cover songs released that year. Guest musicians on this album include the New York musician Nehedar, singer-songwriter Lauren Fincham, and 1970s Psych-folk legend Robert Lester Folsom. Roy's D.I.Y. esthetic is all over this album, as he played many of the instruments himself as well as engineering the entire production. Instruments on the album ranging from simple acoustic guitar to a circuit-bent Speak and Spell.

Roy Peak is an American punk rock, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll singer-songwriter. He's primarily a bassist for hire but also sings and plays acoustic guitar during live performances of his own material. Roy grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, the oldest of four siblings. His father was a Marine and Roy was born on base at a military hospital. Before his mother passed away from cancer she bought him a Kay electric bass and he took lessons from a country guitar player, Sonny Forest. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida, he became entrenched in the North Florida music scene, playing bass, running sound at various events, and running a project recording studio that he designed and built in his garage.

Around 2008 Peak began writing and playing his own material, mostly in an acoustic—but not necessarily laid back—format. In late 2014 he released his first solo album, All is Well, described as a “punkish folk-rock tromp through twelve songs about love, death, and birds,” which received praise from critics in America and Europe.
