Album Notes
"Two Different Days" is one, if not the best of six CD's the Parton band has released in fourteen years. The CD features Chicago trombonist extraordinare Tom Garling, the silky tenor sounds of Mark Colby, Rob Parton's sizzling lead and sultry flugelhorn sound throughout. The music features new arrangements from the pen of Thomas Matta. Most notably the swinging tune by Tadd Dameron, "On A Misty Night" and a burning version of "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You". Other tunes are the unforgettable "Take the A Train", "Speak Low", "How Deep Is the Ocean", "Soon" and a tune originally written for Stan Getz entitled "Blue Getz Blues", with Mark Colby playing the part of Stan Getz.

This CD is truly an enjoyable hit and will certainly have a favorite track for everyone. One special track is an arrangement by Chicago's very talented orchestrator/conductor Cliff Colnot. The tune is a beautiful love song written by Chuck Mangione, "She's Gone". With many members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera Ochestra in the string section, this beautifully written song features Parton on flugelhorn surrounded by a 26 piece chamber orchestra with rhythm section. What a more appropriate ending for such an exciting CD with over seventy three minutes of music!

You will see and hear more from the Parton band in the upcoming monthes as Parton will concentrate more on the development of a not for profit version of the band. "This is truly an exciting time for Chicago jazz and especially Big Band Jazz!" quotes Parton. It is his desire to feature both key historical repertoire and fresh new arrangements of American music featuring the talents of Chicago's most extraordinary arranger/composers.

This Was Wonderful
I just downloaded two of the JAZZTECH Big Bands CDs,Just one of Those Things, and Two different Days. I was just blown away. I am a huge Big Band fan and these albums particularly "Different Days" have some of my favorite charts. These are great arrangements and the band is exceptionally tight. The solos particularly Trombonist Tom Garling sent chill down my spine. This was a real find for me

Cool band Hot tracks
Great band playing some fab tunes - I play in a swing band that plays some of Parton's stuff and understand how tight and musical the playing is on this CD.

This is the 3rd c.d. I have of Rob Parton and I can say without being contradicted that this is by far the best. Great arrangements and greater solos. I look forward to hearing more of this very excellent band.

A most rewarding Big Band CD
The Rob Parton Jazztech Big Band probably has set the standard with this CD. Just enough standards and originals to keep the customer happy! Hard to believe this band is from Chicago, the musicianship and musicality usually heaped upon LA & NYC studio guys can now be applied here as well. Two Different Days, excellent!

A Refreshing and Exciting Big Band Jazz Experience
Just received Rob Parton's Jazztech "Two Different Days" CD and I can not seem to hear it enough. This is my first Rob Parton CD and it will not be my last. Don Schamber's arrangements of "Speak Low" and "Take the A Train" as played by that swinging band, produce two hot new twists to both of these old familiar tunes. The sax solos of Mark Colby are simply sublime. And what can you say about the last track "She's Gone". Parton's flugelhorn and the symphonic orchestra background combine for one beautiful jazz love song that goes to the heart. This Chigago style big band jazz taste is riviting. A must CD for serious jazz fans.

This cd is a gem! Rob Parton once again presents a masterwork in swinging big band jazz. The section playing is nothing short of brilliant, the soloists are outstanding, and the whole band swings like mad. A great deal to this successful production is contributed by the impeccable choice of material and the rewarding, but always swinging arrangements. Highly recommended to fans of swinging modern big band jazz.

Great Album
This is an album I enjoy listening to over and over again. The arrangements are powerful and toe tapping. For me, it's a pleasure and exciting to listen to a local band. If possible, I may try to catch them at their next gig.

Fabulous, stunning, brilliant. Run and buy
This Parton CD is superb. Don't believe what I say, but test it yourself and listen to the samples. It is unbelievable great big band music, gorgeous arrangements and solos. Even the ballads are a treat with the tempo changes. The CD is a gem. -
