ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"On the Red Line" is the debut CD from the Rhodes Tavern Troubadours. The 14 original songs on this album conjure up the influences of artists such as NRBQ, Nick Lowe, The Replacements, and the Rolling Stones into a roots rocking, pop music explosion that's sure to get you moving and keep you humming.

The Rhodes Tavern Troubadours are comprised of four veterans of the Washington, D.C. music scene. This year the band was voted "Best New Band", and "Best Rock/Pop Band" by the Washington Area Music Association.

The Washington Post writes:

"The quartet pays homage to the past by playing roots rock, country, swing and R&B with more flair than any band in town. They can strut through a Ray Price shuffle, break your heart on the soul standard "The Dark End of the Street" or get your feet moving with originals that sound like tracks from a long-lost NRBQ record. Drummer Jack O'Dell (who plays with Washington's premier twangin' musician, Bill Kirchen) pulled together a band that can truly do it all. The Charismatic Jake Flack shares guitar duties with super-picker Dave Chappell, and they're joined by bassist Mark Noone, who garnered some fame as part of the influential punk band the Slickee Boys."

This CD Rocks!!
"On the Red Line" is awesome - the title cut catches you from the start and throws you down the tracks somewhere in the vicinity of Silver Spring. I'm waiting for the Atlanta version - "Riding MARTA" or the London version - "Mind the Gap." In all seriousness, however, the album is great - if you're thinking about buying it, you'll be happy you did. Oh, and Jake Flack rocks.

Clever words and catchy tunes.
One thing I really liked about this CD is the blend of different styles from the band members. Each song on the CD is very good but unique.

Great CD, has something for everyone, rock-country and Mark Noone
Lord Sakes has a Rolling Stones sound, Home Wrecker is great, good local flavor in Red Line Train. My New Hero song has my 3 year old dancing and requesting it 3 to 4 times a day. A must have CD, if your ever in DC, make the drive up to Silver Spring, MD and get your ass to see them live at the Half Moon BBQ on Wed. night

Catchy tunes that are even better in person
A lot of times, with bar bands, the album really sounds like a starting point for what they will do with the material in concert. That is somewhat true in this case, but the hooks in these songs are brilliant, and I find myself singing them all the time. And, living in the DC area, I have ample opportunity to see these guys perform live. If you are town, stop by one of their gigs.

this CD is great--I am so glad I bought it!
This CD is really fun. I now know all the songs by heart and sing along to them. I love the variety of the types of music--some pop, some rock, some humor (dot com guy is perfect!)--really something for everyone. And of course the guitar playing is really amazing. I am going to give it to all my friends for Christmas! I know everyone will love it. I wish I lived in DC so I could see them live. Maybe they will tour???

Sounds just like the real deal at Half Moon BBQ
These boys rock the house live and have brought that same energy to this CD. I have listened to it dozens of times. This is worth the coin and will have you planning a trip to DC to catch this band while you can still see them in a great little club. Heck, they'll even talk with you between sets. Bring 'em a big bag of Route 11 Chips and stand back!

Real Music for Real People
Once in a while the perfect band comes along. You see them live and buy their CD hoping to capture the magic you saw on stage. More often than not the CD gets filed away to gather dust after the first listen. Not so with RTT!!! This band rocks and the CD manages to capture every juicy bit of the magic they create on stage. Each member of RTT is a legend in their own right yet they manage to keep their egos in check for the sake of the music. The hooks are there, the licks are there, the groove is there, the vocals are there (would like to hear legendary Telemaster Dave Chappell sing a bit more though). The writing is very solid and guaranteed to get you singing the songs to yourself when you least expect it. Every song is a keeper....no fillers or by-products here.

Get this CD....it will become one of your favorites!
