ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Ruben V and Grammy winning producer Jim Gaines (producer for Stevie Ray Vaughan, Santana, etc...)team up to create Ruben's latest CD "Labor of Shame"

Ruben V has been paying his dues since he was just a kid with a Panasonic cassette recorder and a hand held microphone. He’s shared the stage with such acts as Gatemouth Brown, Johnny Winter, George Thorogood, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Arc Angels, Storyville, Delbert McClinton, Joe Ely; why keep dropping names, he's just released his latest CD - "Labor of Shame". His music is as real as any best selling non fiction novel out there, winner of several best guitar awards, best songwriter and best blues band.Yet, you’ve probably never even heard of him!
Ruben was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, and started playing around town by the age of 12. His father, his uncle and his brothers we’re all working musicians; it always seemed like the thing he was supposed to do.

Labor of Shame is Ruben V at his best, with his unique blend of Texas Blues, old fashion Wes Montgomery style blues and groovin' rhythm and blues. You'll never tire of this CD!!

Great, smooth, rough all in the same beat.
CD gets me and my family moving and rocking. We range in age from 65 to 4. A CD any Texas Native can relate to.
It has a sense of soul and family of South Texas that the world needs to hear.

Change is Coming...It Rocks!
I was one of the priviledged few to be able to preview Labor of Shame. Once again RubenV comes out with material that proves he is not the type of guitarist to settle into a "comfort zone" as he continies to push the envelope when it comes to guitar playing "Texas style." No doubt that he is on top of his game when it comes to the music here. I always say that I have never seen the same RubenV show twice and he proves it again with this album because it's totally different from all his others. It ROCKS! and grooves the whole way through ....Change is Coming. You'll know what I mean when you listen to it.

I had read a review of this album, and it said "quite possibly the best singer you've never heard of", and then I heard "Labor of Shame" on my XM. I was hooked. Great CD, and there's no better place to get it than at CD Baby!
