Album Notes
"A Fool For Every Season " is Eugene Ruffolo's debut CD, released on Rounder-owned CRS label in fall of 1999. The CD recieved wide critical acclaim in both the United States and Europe, being hailed as a "veritable jewel of folk pop" by Germany's "Audio" Magazine.

Prestigious US magazine Performing Songwriter described Ruffolo as posessing "The bizarre ability to frame sad lyrics with upbeat melodies, creating three dimensional songs that justify the existence of the repeat button on your Cd player."

The Cd is produced by Ruffolo himself-along with famed producer Ben Wisch, who gained noteriety from his sensitive treatment of artists such as Marc Cohn, Catie Curtis, Patty larkin, and Cheryl Wheeler, to name a few. John Leventhal stepped in to produce the title track, and plays on several other cuts.
"Fool For Every Season" has a cast of brilliant players and guest vocalists, including Saturday-Night Live drummer Sean Pelton, and singers Marc Cohn, Jonatha Brooke, and Livingston Taylor.

Perhaps the first thing one notices upon slipping in the disc is Ruffolo's unique and compelling voice, described as "utterly intruiging" by "Jam" magazine of Italy. It is a voice formidable enough that Ruffolo has been asked to participate in recordings and live performances with artists as diverse as Garth Brooks, Livingston Taylor, David Wilcox, Spyro Gyra, Run DMC, Tony Bennett, and Artie Traum.

His golden voice has also been featured in films by some of America and Europe's most famous directors and composers, including George Lucas, Brian DePalma, and Ennio Morricone.

He's the first prize winner of both the highly competitive Telluride and Merle Fest song writing competitions. Check out his follup CD "When we Were Kings" as well!

One of the best albums and collection of songs I have ever heard
Eugene Ruffolo can write some heartbreakingly beautiful songs, and he has a voice so clear that it is dazzling. On Sweet Southern Eyes, he sounds like the great JT -- and that little song is a gem. Listen. Repeat. Listen. Repeat. Fool for Every Season is also terrific --beautifully written. A major singer-songwriter and I just stumbled on him like a light in the darkness. Elegant lyrics, wistful melodies and some sad refrains -- which adds up to a magical sort of beauty

Excellent. Skillfully written …. Beautifully performed.
Highly recommended to those who enjoy James Taylor and Kenny Loggins at their best. The lyrics are beautifully woven into the music and delivered with a crystal clear voice balanced in a background of precise instrumentation. Nice presentation of tales of life, love and loss that guides the listener into moments of quiet reflection.
