ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is the album that many Ruffolo fans have been waiting for. If you like the more acoustic side of things, or are partial to Eugene's live performances, you'll want to check out this new CD. It features a selection of songs from Eugene's prior three Cds, with new arrangments , presented in a more organic and acoustic setting. Produced, recorded and engineered in Germany by Gunter Pauler, owner of the prestigious audiophile label Stockfisch Records, this disc is impeccably recorded and mixed in full 5.1 Surround Sound. It's encoded on a threelayer "hybrid CD", which means that one of three different mixes will play, depending upon the listener's stereo system. The music was recorded during a week-long series of sessions with Eugene and guitarist John Jennings. Gunter later added the finishing touches, utililizing the talents of some of Europe's finest players. if you're a fan of high audio quality, you must check out this disc...

Improving on Perfection!
If you are a fan of unique singers, mellow tunes and great guitar playing then this is the perfect album for you.

I own all of Eugene's previous cds and thought it would be impossible to improve on the original recordings. However, I have to say that these new arrangements of some of his very best songs are magnificant. I love all of the tracks but highlights for me include Irreplaceable, One More Mystery and Fool For Every Season.

My favourite album of 2007.

“Take your clothes off boy, the water's fine,
jump on in …”(Beyond Love) To the SACD lovers = an outstanding dazzling plunge into a warm, utterly relaxing SUPERSOUND-JACUZZI… as well as for each music lover of course. Accent on Eugene’s wonderful voice surrounded by a most delicious fragrant-pearling-foam of all kinds of guitars and different strings, driving on a smooth delicate bass-balsam. For those who already know the Ruffolo-Pearls from his former three albums please, jump naked into this one, do not compare but listen with clean and different ears to this “different” light, to this BRILLIANT NECKLACE of PEARLS in Pauler & Co’s illumination. Highlights pour moi are the ‘incomparable’ new songs, the ‘professional dreamer’ once again at his best = "Love Can Be That Way" (melancholic love whirling on a haunting melody and violin), "Elmo´s Song" (a beautiful serene étude-sound-portrait of and Ode to his father; a thoughtfully placed instrumental interludium, as a postscriptum to 'Irreplaceable' and with 'Run To You’s intro a perfect bridge between the two different tempo’s and moods), "For a Look at You" (a most magnificent impressionistic/surrealistic way to paint the beauty of Italy’s Calabria in words and music (cfr Voices), a dreamy escape in mind from the daily life in a nuage of thoughts and memories to there where the family roots lie, drifting high above the earth on a warm breeze of a fascinating melody, sparkling guitar moon twinkles on the beautiful deep blue bass undertone of the Mediterranean waters far below. This most intriguing bloody beautiful song takes you along on its voyage, jeezzz, it even swallows you). Maybe some of the well-known songs are even as good, maybe some a bit risky? but each one is brilliant and surprising in this absolutely incomparable supersound = "The Hills of Sicily" (beautiful couleur-locale-touch of mandolin on a loaded fretless bass), "Run to You" (exciting little surprises and a heavenly schwung on bass and cor anglais), "Poor Lonesome Me" (super upright bass), "No Common Future, Irreplaceable, Fool For Every Season, Beyond Love"…As we all know Beauty is in the EAR of the Beholder. It is most fascinating to hear the light and color in which another great sound-goldsmith sees and feels these Pearls. It must have demanded a lot of soul, affection and courage of Pauler to re-illuminate a perfection, and especially a great admiration and anchored believe in Eugene Ruffolo ánd his sterling songs! Hop! up to you to savor and favor. Highly recommended !!! (visit also Venice’s www.venicecentral.com/ -> V.Talk -> Other Artists -> ER; and of course www.eugeneruffolo.nl/) love, lia
