Album Notes
I took piano lessons for 10 years, starting at the age of 6. Even when I was 1st learning and playing as a little kid, it felt familiar; more like reviewing than learning something new. My teacher; Marguerite Schwinger of W. Los Angeles, Ca. gave me a scholarship that she only gave out twice in her 40 year career, and this significantly expedited my progress.

The composers I played mostly were Beethoven, Mozart and Bach. Hence, they ended up being my biggest influences as a composer.

At the age of 16, I started composing original classical piano music, and have been doing so ever since. This is my 1st ever release of my original classical music. I have a lot more that I have composed, and still compose on an ongoing basis.

I am influenced to a lesser degree by the romantic and impressionistic composers also.

The 1st piece on this CD is a direct inspiration from playing the 1st movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. I intermingled the writing of this piece while working up my own version of The Moonlight Sonata 1st movement.(which I will put on a future CD) It can be considered to be a companion piece to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata 1st movement. This is the most recent composition on the CD.

The 2nd piece was written about 5 years ago; inspired by my playing Lutheran music as a church organist, (along with Beethovian and Mozartian leanings.)

The 3rd piece was written in my early 20s as a birthday present to my mother. She titled this piece: 'God's Wedding Music', which I always thought was way over the top, but but she was an over the top person.

The last piece was written when I was 16, and has the strongest Bach influence. I reworked some transitional sections during the recording sessions.

I recorded this music at Audio International recording studio in Ojai, Ca. Richard Fowle was the engineer.
I played a Baldwin 9 foot concert grand piano. It was miked with 2 Neumman U67 microphones placed very close to the soundboard for an intimate, full, and immediate sound. Some pedaling sounds can be heard because of this, but I thought it was worth it for the superior characteristics that close miking provided. There was also a Sony room microphone that was mixed in ever so slightly.

I have a lot more classical pieces that I have composed, and the creative muse is still very kind to me. I just turn on the faucet and the music pours out.

I strongly feel that this music is ageless and world class. It is somewhat technical, but that takes a back seat to it being the emotionally and soulfully evoking music that it was for me while I wrote it. I hope that you feel the same about it. It came out naturally, without any contrivance, or 'churning out' mentality. It flowed purely from a need to express what was a part of myself that is beyond my conscious understanding.
