Cadeautje

by Ruud De Vries & Jip Vollema

Cadeautje is a substitute title for this melancholic saxophone & guitar track, that was based on the song Margrietje (1971) from the Belgium singer Louis Neefs. Long before this hit song, the German songwriter Adolf Becker used the same melody to write the German song Guter Mond, Du Gehst So Stille (1933). However, the original melody is believed to excist from the year 1800! And yet, this melody still sticks to the listener’s mind.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Ruud de Vries & Jip Vollema is a collaboration of the Dutch tenor saxophonist Ruud de Vries and pop/rock guitarist Jip Vollema. Both musicians usually play louder music like jazz, funk, soul, afrobeat, dance (Ruud de Vries) and rock/metal (Jip Vollema). However, they found each other in recording melancholic songs with a strong melody. You can also hear them both on the track Prayer in C on the Ruud de Vries album Moodprints (2015), which is also available here on CDBaby.
