Album Notes
Native Duluthian Ryan Lane started playing guitar at age 17 because he wanted to turn his poetry into music. Within a year, he played his first Open Mic at a local coffee shop called, "Beaners Central," and was hooked. Ryan played several small local gigs and venues before joining the Navy in 2006. He served 6 years as a Hospital Corpsman and deployed to many places around the world including: Iraq, Indonesia, Japan, and Australia, before returning to Duluth. After his military service, Ryan enrolled as a full-time student studying French and Anthropology at the University of Minnesota Duluth. In college, Ryan studied abroad in France, and travelled extensively through many countries in Europe. Throughout all of his travels, studies, and deployments, he has almost always carried a guitar close to him, and continued writing songs. With a strong emphasis on meaningful and clever lyrics, Ryan’s songwriting has evolved into a conglomeration of real and fictional experiences, imagination, and dark stories filled with subtle humor, sarcasm, and hope. On February 6, 2015, Ryan released, “Aspiring Romantic,” as his first full-length album. Ryan is currently serving 27 months as a Health Volunteer for the Peace Corps in Madagascar.

In keeping with the spirit of striving to be an ethical, global citizen, Ryan is donating 100% of the profit made in the in 2015 for this album to Dr. Paul Farmer's nonprofit organization, "Partners In Health." For the past 25 years, PIH has been instrumental in the fight against many epidemic diseases including AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Ebola. They are committed to social justice and combatting poverty by improving community-based care and strengthening national health systems. “It is truly humbling to reflect on all the wonderful people and experiences that have inspired these songs and this album. Thank you to: Jon Harper, Julius Michaud et La Chatière, Milan Kovacovic, Elyse Vosen-Carter, The Beaners Family, our Military Service Members, Woodblind and all the other amazing musicians and friends who contributed. Finally, thank you to my family for all the years of unconditional love and support. Without you, this simply would not be possible.” – Ryan Lane

Amazing new musician and lyricist
Relaxing, intelligent, interesting, funny, highly original! This is a new voice in music that is likely to be around for a long time. A memorable work.
