ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Sam Stray has been writing songs since 1953, his very first song was called "SHE'S MY BABY"(YES SHE IS)his first group was formed in Linden Junior High. The members were Sammy, Ronald and Aonald West(TWINS)(Baritone,Bass), and their cousin Robert Cunningham(First Tenor, they were the first vocal group to use the name THE CUFF-LINKS. Sam regrets to this day that they split up when they got to Linden High. That is where Sam met Wayne Tevlin, a great singer and fabulous guitarist. They inducted a classmate Richard (LUIGI) Soldo (Mr. Bassman) and first tenor Raymond Creapeau (Pitched for the Detroit Tigers)they called themselves The Uniques and later became The Four Kings. They released several records from 1960-1964 on Bliss, Pride, Gone, and Canadian American Records. I'm Confessin, I'm So Unhappy(Stray), It's Got To Come From Your Heart, How Was I To Know?(Stray)Two Lonely Lovers(DeCillis) One Night(DeCillis) a song that topped the charts around the USA, Wayne Tevlin sang a tremendous falsetto lead on that song. It was headed to the number one spot....then a bomb dropped....the British Invasion hit the USA. The Uniques called it quits. Today Sam and Wayne are still vocalizing and still waiting for that hit song to come along....maybe it can happen with their new release THE DOO-WOP BLUES(Stray).

Sammy Stray is an icon of doo-wop style.
The title track "doo-wops are forever" deserves to be recognised as a classic. Sam's writing is excellent. He has a great voice and he defines the style as only an original can do. As a musician myself, this album is a "style" album to have in my library of resource material. Keep writing Sam! It's good work.

Sam Stray has introduced me to my new love, Doo-Wops...
I have to say, I am in love with the music on this CD. I didn't grow up with Doo-Wops, but hearing this gave me a new found love for them. Sam Strays' style is impressive, and the lyrics fun and comforting at the same time.

doo-wops are forever
I just love these doo wop songs, they bring me back to when my older sisters played me their 45rpm records. I especially enjoyed the first song Doo wops are forever....sounds like the fifties again.

Wayne (The Whale) Tevlin

This music brings back the days of my youth in the 50's & 60's
This CD brings back the musical sounds I grew up hearing on the radio and on the street corner while I was growing up.
Sammy Stray is a great talent and that will be heard in this CD. He does it all from DOO-WOP to POP with great skill.
If you like the sounds of the 50's and 60's you won't be dissapointed in purchasing this CD. Keep up the good work Sammy.
