ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Samovar Russian Folk Music Ensemble, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016, continues to enjoy spreading appreciation of Russian and Ukrainian (and more recently, Gypsy) folk music in the Washington, DC area and beyond. The group’s music has appeared in Hollywood movies (“Driven to Kill” with Steven Seagal and “Whiteout” with Kate Beckinsale), and Samovar has traveled as far afield as Taiwan and even Erie, Pennsylvania. Listeners new to this genre can hear a wide sample—four CD’s worth--at Samovarmusic.com. Alternately very happy or very sad, this music provides an excellent accompaniment for sipping borscht, eating caviar, and drinking vodka.
