Love this guy!
I met Sand in Utah at the Red Cliffs Lodge and he seranaded my friends and I and was one of the nicest men I've ever met. Love his music, reminds me of a cross between Tom Rush and James Taylor.

High (Alt.) Country Gold
Sand Sheff’s Free On This Mountain (Upheaval Dome) could easily have floated down the river on relaxed, Don-Williams-countrypolitan currents. Fortunately, with some help from his friends (Reeltime Travelers), Sand’s also hiking up side canyons that Nashville forgot. From the opening whistles of the Durango & Silverton Railroad thru the upbeat “Lord Go Easy” and the title track’s swing, this disc is like a night of cactus juice around a high-country campfire with Graham Parsons, Pink Floyd, and Lyle Lovett. Wherever Sheff’s found inspiration in his new Four Corners stomping grounds, there’s country gold in them there hills.

Sand Sheff Is The Real Deal!
Sand Sheff is the real deal and the only shame about that is that too many people have still never heard his music. "Free On This Mountain" proves my point time and time again. In an America where "country" too often means either stereotyped hokum or overproduced glitz, this man lays down the hard truth without pulling his punches. His turns of phrase have caught me by the ears so many times that I've lost count. If you love fine songwriting you'll soon find yourself knowing every song on "Free" and you'll be singing along like every Sand Sheff song was a favorite you've known for years. Buy this cd! In fact, buy two and give one to someone who really deserves it. Also I'd be remiss if I didn't say that Martha Scanlon (Reeltime Travelers) and Benny 'Burle' Galloway turned me on to Sand's music and count themselves among Sand's growing legion of friends and fans. God bless Sand Sheff!!!
