ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Artist and musician Sandy Bell was raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Nurtured on ‘70s rock, Lutheran hymns and country radio, her voice and writing have emerged as confessional, expressionistic and a bit somber. When i leave Ohio is a full length record that plays like musical hauntings of her Ohio. Her mother’s car, the suburban backyard, her father’s garage and her sister’s broken heart are all represented; every character, whether by death, drugs or geographical escape, tries to find their way out.
While Sandy Bell is unique in style and sound, there are moments on this record where she reflects a bit of the emotional storytelling ala Patti Smith and Leonard Cohen but with a touch of Edith Piaf drama. When i leave Ohio moves through a dreamlike state as the complexities and sadness of her familial loves try to find their way out while taking the listener far away and back home again in mere moments.
