ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Departure is the first CD produced and released by the San Jacinto College Central Steel Drum Band, and was recorded entirely in SJCC's state-of-the-art recording studio.

The band was formed in 1994 by Michael Mizma, professor of music at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas. It has been performing concerts for 16 years. The steel band is open to everyone, regardless of musical experience. The only requirement is a desire to learn!

To date, over 300 students have been members of the steel drum ensemble. They've gone on to four-year colleges and pursued careers in teaching, television, radio, engineering, computer science, health sciences, finance and more.
