Album Notes
“The Bridge Song” will be the third single released from Sarah Eide's upcoming album “Dreams On Hold” (May 6 2019). The first single from the album, “Shadow” was released Jan 2018, and has been praised for its tongue-in-cheek lyrics and sparkling piano riffs, as well as being a 2017 Great American Song Contest Finalist. The second single, title track, “Dreams On Hold” was released March 2019, with NYS Music praising it as a “unique spin on Americana”. Paula Cummings wrote “...Eide brandishes her flair for dramatic storytelling. The song ebbs and flows like a soundtrack.”

The Story Behind The Bridge Song: "The 2016 Presidential election had a toll on me. I felt there was an ever growing chasm between myself and many people I love and respect, including family members. It felt devastating, and for a year since then I had a song on my heart, but didn’t know how to properly express it. It just kept sounding too dark, too preachy, too cheesy. This is a struggle many songwriters and artists can relate to… the incredible nagging desire to express oneself, but being blocked one way or another from doing so accurately. It wasn’t until I realized the need for a new approach that “The Bridge Song” could be born. With the resolve to write this in a way even small children could understand (having two little ones myself), I ended up writing this song in less than an hour (albeit after a year of not knowing where to start). It turns out, sometimes the best way to say something is very simply and with as much lightheartedness as you can muster. Fast forward to 2019, the divide and fractionation of our country based on politics, religion, philosophy and more continues, but this song has become a mantra for myself and many others I’ve played it for. With the help of animator and director Jon Lewis, this video has the fun and quirky visuals needed to bring even more life to the meaning and message of this folk tune."

It’s also worth noting that this single showcases a star lineup of Chicago talent, featuring Joe Camarillo of The Waco Brothers and Jess McIntosh who is the fiddler for Al Scorch, and recorded primarily in the fabled Chicago studio of Steve Albini, Electrical Audio. Produced by Eide, it demonstrates her abilities not only as a songwriter, pianist and singer, but also as a young female producer.
