Album Notes
"From the introduction of flute into jazz, artist have spent countless years researching, listening and exploring its contribution to this style of music.

Sarpay’s unique use of the flute in contemporary jazz has expanded the versatility and universal appeal of the instrument further than previously envisaged.

"Unexpectable" stands out as a ground breaking contemporary solo triumph complemented by a full band experiment exploring and achieving the flute’s full potential in the language of jazz and contemporary music.
It offers a fine mixture of jazz with an occasional hint of the Turkish Rhythms and introduces the new contemporary groove jazz music for flute.

Sarpay’s flute moves effortlessly through smooth, progressive tunes and elements of funk, drama, and at times, romanticism allowing the audience to connect to the music in a distinctive way.

Sarpay's band is a quartet comprised of flute plus digital effects applied by live, piano and keys, electric bass and drums. This project will inspire thought, emotion, and musical innovation."

Sarpay Özçağatay - Flute&Fx&EWI

The proper title for this album should be "Wow!"
I have not heard or seen such an amazing skill like that of Sarpay demonstrated in this album. Since the day I came across Sarpay's work online, I have become a faithful and loyal fan. This is powerful. This album is very very hot, peppery and sweet. It is entertaining and educating. (Sarpay has injured me on the inside with his skills.... *haaaash). It is very hard to recover from it's goodnesses. I love different styles, skills and techniques he brought in to play in this album. Pls you can also buy UNLOCK(study book) by the same Artist. The book really unlocked a lot of the secrets in this album.
I love this album and strongly recommend it for everybody. It is a blessing pack.

I more or less stumbled across Sarpay's music by chance watching a couple of short video clips, and I felt spellbound immediately. Whatever my expectations might have been - 'Unexpectable' exceeds them all. Sarpay's breathtaking virtuosity on the flute, his abounding musical panache and expressiveness, his truely brilliant fellow musicians and a beautiful set of tunes make this CD a delicacy you won't want to miss. And for those who still have doubts about the flute in Jazz (oh yes, such people exist!) or the flute in general: Listen to this. Just do it.

Have loved hearing Sarpay play since the first time I heard him at the Acton Jazz Cafe. This album is a delight; it's a joy to see Sarpay evolve as a musician and contribute his gifts to listeners everywhere!

Ahmet İşsever

Sarpay's been a buddy musician back in homeland Capital Ankara Turkey. He has raised limits in listening to flutists. His dynamism leads the musicians with high spirits and lets anyone who listens hear the specifications the instrument has in the quality and also range in which one may appreciate. Salutes in peace
