ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Irish, Scottish, and Newfoundland songs and traditional dance instrumentals done with skill and passion.

Sassanach brings the music of the common Celtic people to life in all their performances, Songs with bawdy, earthy humor; songs from the heat of battle and its aftermath, gallows songs, sea shanties,
and of course, the rowdy drinking songs.

Sarah Johnson plays flute and piccolo, Chris Kemnitz is on guitar and Ben Johnson is on bodhran with all sharing duties on the lead and three part harmony vocal work. Together they can move from melancholy gallows songs to the well-known drinking singalongs. They can bring out the earthy humor, throw in an accapella shanty and still fit in a bunch of jigs and reels.

The rhythmic drive to their instrumentals will get you moving and clapping.

Sassanach is a must see group.

Rebecca Meyerson

An excellent mix of songs you may not have heard before.
Nice mix of vocals and great songs, from a few ballads and shanties to foot stompin' fun! Loved the CD!!!
