Album Notes
Sasson has been playing Jewish music around the northwest for 10 years, and are based out of Seattle, WA. Their repertoire blends original and traditional material from around the Jewish world. While their first release, The Gathering, reflected more of an eclectic, modern fusion between Eastern European klezmer with other rhythms such as samba, salsa, reggae and other modern music, this album, Lecha Dodi, is a return to the roots.

The intention was to put together a cohesive set of songs for Shabbat and the Chatunah (wedding). In addition to original compositions, there are a number of traditional Shabbat melodies, songs for the chupah, and two medleys for Jewish dancing. Lecha Dodi [translates to For You, My Beloved] is simply a beautiful presentation of a timeless tradition.

Sasson is:
Benjamin Gown on accordion and flute;
Keith Judelman on bass and piano;
Adam Kessler on drums and percussion;
Craig Judelman on violin;
Shawn Weaver on woodwinds;

Lecha Dodi also features guest appearances by:
Kane Mathis on oud;
Samantha Boshnack on trumpet;
Dan Marcus on brass;
Max Marcus on cello.
