Album Notes
This is a story I love, because it became a representation of love, and more than the funny song it started out to be.

Walking through Whole Foods in NYC I see a big grin cross my boyfriends face and I couldn’t resist asking him, “What’s so funny.” He tried to brush it off, but finally he broke down and told me. “I was imagining myself as a rock star and I was singing a song called, “I’m Too Good Looking.” You have to understand this was coming from the mouth of a 57 year old mathematics lecturer. We both laughed and I believed that would be the end of it.

However, later that same day I went into our bedroom and I found him writing and then crumpling up pieces of paper and throwing them into the waste-basket. I asked him what he was doing? He replied, I’m writing lyrics to, “I’m Too Good Looking.” That’s when I knew he wasn’t going to be happy until he completed what he started.

Having spent years working in music I couldn’t just watch him struggle, so I sat down on our bed and started to help him create a form out of his words, come up with verses, a bridge, a style for the song, and additional lyrics. By the end of the night we believed we had a memorable song with a great hook!

That was in the winter of 2011 and we had plans to get married that summer. We were also trying to find the perfect wedding present for the other when I got this idea. I called my good friend Dana who has 31 platinum records and her husband Martin, who also has walls of platinum records and I asked them if they would help me record this song for Gary as my wedding present to him. I wanted him to have the experience of listening to an idea get fleshed out by music professionals, hear it come to life and sound like he had just turned on the radio.

Once I had the thought of us recording our song in my head, I was stuck. What fun and it would be the perfect present. Gary really didn’t need anything material, but to see something you create get fully fleshed out and have the first song you ever wrote be recorded and arranged by multi platinum singer/songwriters and recording artists and be able to attend the recording session and see it get made; well I knew there was no better gift I could give him.

I have never seen anyone get so much joy from anything I have ever given them. My husband has become certain that the first song he ever wrote could become a number one hit! Our friends told him that you usually have to write more than one song for that to happen. My husband Gary plays our song to anyone who will listen. He has faith in what we have written, and who am I to stop him from dreaming?

We officially introduced “Too Good Looking,” at our wedding rehearsal party and now we are introducing it to you and the world. We’ve enclosed the lyrics for your reading pleasure. If after listening you agree with my husband that our song should be heard on the radio, TV, at concerts and parties, please pass this link on to your friends. Maybe with your help we can make his fantasy come true? Who would like to hear this song? Who thinks it’s catchy and fun? Who would like to help make a fantasy come true?
