ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With a background in classical music and a deep love of Americana, Savannah Wheeler creates dynamic folk rock pieces that showcase her sophisticated compositional style and unforgettable voice. Savannah hails from a small town in the Midwest, where she spent much of her time playing guitar at family BBQ's and dancing wildly to Bob Dylan records with the local riff raff. Her classical training in piano, voice and percussion had her gigging everywhere from church choirs to house parties to smoky back-alley honky tonks, and her songs speak to these influences with that magical combination of familiarity and originality.

Savannah began playing keyboards and singing back-up vocals for indie rock bands in 2006 with the melodramatic pop sounds of 'Boys & Girls' and the classic rock-n-roll of 'Nightinghales' in Minneapolis. After moving to Los Angeles in 2009, Savannah wrote and recorded an unreleased folk rock/alt. country EP. She later joined the new wave/shoegaze band 'Light FM' on keyboards and back-up vocals. 'Light FM' went on to open up for 'The Smashing Pumpkins' during their Fall 2011 US Tour. After returning to Los Angeles, Savannah joined the Americana duo, Bootgaze. Currently, Savannah is focusing on composition/film scoring. She’s also singing and playing guitar with the choir Honey Child, accompanying a variety of musicians in her circle of friends, and working on an experimental project TBA.

Her debut EP, 'Annie's Dream,’ is music for daydreaming, stargazing and hell raising. A lushly orchestrated homage to Outlaw-era country with echoes of Sturgill Simpson’s cosmic Americana, these songs are at once gritty and delicate, creating a dreamy world all their own as they navigate love and heartbreak. Elements of classical composition resonate throughout Savannah’s work, and her voice recalls the crystalline beauty of singers like Joni Mitchell and Shirley Collins.
