Album Notes
Joyland is a hard rockin', guitar driven tune written about the Wichita, Kansas theme park which opened in 1949 and closed in 2006. The song recounts memories the three Wichita born Scepter members had in the theme park back in the day, as well as it is now... an abandoned, almost haunting site that is off limits to the public (The Whacky Shack horror ride still stands). The song begins with "Back in 1998..." which is the year a maintenance worker was killed by the roller coaster car as he cut weeds underneath it and didn't hear the coaster coming. Joyland rocks with heavy guitars and vocals, and is sure to be a hit. It's the latest track by Dallas, TX based Scepter featuring Jeff Kirby on vocals/bass guitar, his brother Joe Kirby on guitar, and Damon Blythe on drums. It's a Thrill Ride! It's Joyland!
