Album Notes
The third CD from Bay Area veteran Scott Cooper, "Batik in Blue" features his band Scotty & the Barrelmakers plus cameos from Jim Lewin (Great American Taxi), Bill Laymon (NRPS), Matt Hartle (China Cats), Steve Sofranko (China Cats), Luca Fredericksen (Wolfman Washington), Nancy Wright (Elvin Bishop), Will McDougal (James Durbin), Will Kahn (Sambada). Cooper's first CD "A Leg Trick" reached #5 on Relix magazine's jam band radio charts and this release is even stronger.
Cooper has a knack of writing "thoughtful, literate tunes" (San Luis Obispo New Times) rounded out with his all-star cast of jam band musicians, bringing each song to wider destinations.
The core band includes Mark Corsolini (Dark Star Orchestra), Terry Shields (Alan Parsons), Lachlan Kane (Edge of the West) and lap steel guitar player Scott Walker, who builds high-end electric guitars for many in the jam band scene.
