Songs from Saigon

by Scott McDonald

The ten original songs are a sample of the creativity that Vietnam has brought out in me. There is an emotional culture in this country full of happiness, sadness, love, lust and lost love. The three cover songs included are just a few of my own favorites

Album Notes
I have been writing songs for the past thirty years and have recently decided to put some of them into a recorded form. My influences range from folk to rock to country and back to folk again. I grew up with parents who were musically inclined and exposed me to a variety of artists throughout my childhood. The majority of my songs tend to lean towards love and lost love. I have been fighting an addiction to love for most of my life. Without love we are a hollow shell of a human being. Without love we have no inspirations, no hopes, no dreams... Without love it is a cold and empty existence. Even the darkest moments in our lives bring us closer to the next bright moment. Trajedy, pain, suffering, loneliness, heartache, hatred, resentment are just examples of what we need to feel in order to appreciate the wonder of love. Come with me on my journey to discover the next one.
