From all the woodwinds (saxes, flutes, clarinets), Jersey-based jazz saxophonist, composer, arranger, educator Scott Grimaldi covers all the bases and then some on his groundbreaking solo debut, THE COLOR OF MIDNIGHT. It’s contemporary jazz, it’s fusion jazz, it’s R&B, and it sparkles with an energy that is totally addicting. With fresh, vibrant covers of the works of Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Henry Mancini, Peter Cetera, Michael Jackson, and R. Kelly added to three captivating Scott Grimaldi originals, this album is totally awesome. Mr. Grimaldi has an overwhelmingly impressive resume, including major kudos from Grammy-winning producer Tony Camillo, and the material on this disc rocks! First-rate support performances, including stunning vocals from Joe Thompson (“Do I Do” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours”) and Donald Sheffey (“Happy Man”) make this an absolutely must-have collection for any passionate contemporary jazz fan. Can you tell I love Scott Grimaldi’s THE COLOR OF MIDNIGHT?
