Album Notes
Where Is “Here”?

In 2006, my beloved wife, Ann, passed from this earth. She was beautiful, intelligent, creative, radiant, and the love of my life. She was an amazing mom to our two boys. From the moment she was diagnosed with cancer, I shuddered to imagine how I could live without her.

Today I am living that unimaginable life, trying to find my way as a single parent. Dealing with grief that, several years later, can still knock me off my feet.

I tell you all of this, not so that you will pity me, but to let you know where I am singing from…what these songs were born out of. I am not the first person to face these struggles, and I will not be the last. You may be facing things that are unspeakably hard. I want you to know that you are hearing songs that are honest expressions from a true heart. A heart that, perhaps like yours, has been broken and bruised.

These are not depressing songs. That’s because I have found plenty of hope in my sorrow. Jesus has wiped my tears with His nail-scarred hands. He has held me close to His breast, and He has lifted me in His everlasting arms. He has given me a song in the night and an undying hope for the light of a new day. I am not alone, and you are not alone. Let the words and the music touch your heart. Above all, let Jesus take your hand and guide you on the journey.

Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. (Psalm 27:14)
