Credit Card Christmas (It's Gonna Be)

by Scottland

A blast from the past....Originally released in 1988 to critical acclaim and diverse radio airplay, The 45rpm single, Credit Card Christmas was the brainchild of Scott Evans. It was during the holiday season of 1987 that Scott realized that there was no money in the coffers and that if Christmas would come, it would need to be paid for on credit. Once this stark realization occurred, the melody for the chorus sprung into his head, and the rest is...well.... history! Reaching the number 1 spot on radio for the 1988 holiday season on WPST (Mercer/Princeton, NJ) and number 1 in Guam (yes, honestly, Guam)... Credit Card Christmas became the “darling” of the then “holiday song” playlists across the globe.

Album Notes
Scottland and the 45 rpm single Credit Card Christmas came onto the scene in 1988. It was well received in the land of Radio, making the top of the playlists that year. Singer/Songwriter, Scott Evans has continued to write, record and produce as the years moved on. Producing such bands as "The Shades", "Smart Remarks" and "Strange As Angels". Scotts debut release, Light..Love... and the Pursuit of Happiness...", is coming out this year. Most recently a member and mentor for the band Clarence Oddboddy (yes, the spelling is correct), Scott released the single "I Don't Care" , under the name Clarence Oddboddy this year on CD Baby (check it out). Blending influences from years of service work both in and out of the studio, Scotts music can be defined as 60's/70's influenced Pop Rock with somewhat of a modern twist. The newest release coming out this year features some fellow musicians including long time cohort and drummer Rich Scanella known mostly for his work with Jon Bon Jovi & Friends. Add Credit Card Christmas to your song list today. Big love to ya'll

A deep 80s pop gem for the holidays
I discovered this tune via its original 45 at my day job last year. It's a great nod to the classic grooves of A Christmas Gift for You and "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday". Public radio DJs like me looking for little-known treats from the Decade of Excess should find room alongside Band Aid and the Waitresses for this ode to holiday debt.
