ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Americana Gold, Musick's first solo album, released to rave reviews, is a harmonious blend of Americana, acoustic rock, old country and gospel, presented by powerful players including Musick, Jim Lewin (Great American Taxi, Todd Snider, Lacy J. Dalton, Harmony Grits), Danny Timms (Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, Los Lobos, The Highwaymen, Delbert McClinton) and Tulsa greats, Randy Ess and Alan Ransom, on "The Crossing".

Scott Musick, singer-songwriter and drummer, is a solo artist as well as a member of the acclaimed band, The Call. Scott has performed with legends, Peter Gabriel, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, The Band and Smokey Robinson, as well as Elvis Costello, Hoyt Axton, Delbert McClinton, Harry Dean Stanton and many others. His musical skills can also be heard on The Archies and Fat Albert cartoons as well as on film soundtracks, such as Weird Science, Tango & Cash and Light Sleeper.

"Scott's songs are very moving with pure and powerful lyrics. Reminds me of The Band. He could start a revival with this music." Dan Russell, Owner of New Sound Artist Management and Founder of SoulFest, New England's Premier Social Justice & Christian Music Festival

Musick's new CD - his first as a solo artist - is the impressive Americana Gold, an eight-song set of solid singer-songwriter tunes, nicely crafted, lyrically strong and presented with subtle, sure-handed authority by Musick and his cohorts..." John Wooley - Oklahoma Magazine

"I like it all." Chris MacIntosh aka Grandfather Rock - WCWP FM Radio - New York

Americana Gold
Americana Gold is the kind of album that inspires me to hit the road. Just pack a bag, get in the car and drive across country, taking the back roads with no particular destination in mind. The songwriting is a distinctly American blend of Folk and Country with a bit of Rock, a little Soul and a lotta heart. The voice is warm, the lyrics are smart but plain spoken, coming from the perspective of a man who’s traveled a lot of places, known a lot of people and experienced more than a few of life’s ups and downs. With songs ranging from playful to poignant, the common thread that ties the album together is a spirit of hopefulness in the lyrics.

The production is uncluttered and features some nice playing by Danny Timms and Jim Lewin (who also wrote one of the songs and co-produced the album). I especially like “Blue Highway - the ultimate driving song! - and the opening track, “Mañana”. The album closes with a beautiful rendition of Kris Kristofferson’s “The Promise”.

Scott Musick is an accomplished musician who has long been highly regarded as a sideman by his peers (and this includes some pretty well known artists). His first solo album was a long time coming; hopefully, it will be the first of many more to come.
