Much of the music in this collection takes me back to the music of the late 1960’s and early 70’s.The electric experiments of Miles Davis on “In a Silent Way” and Bitches Brew. The energy and rhythmic complexity of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. While Herbie Hancock , Chick Corea, Weather Report and so many more innovators brought new sounds and techniques that influenced a generation of musicians to follow. As I wrote material for the recording I thought specifically of each player and grouping. Imagining the interplay and conversations. I’m thrilled with the result and I hope you enjoy our work too!
