ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Saint Dominic Chapel Girls' Choir, now in its fifth year, consists of young ladies of our parish ranging in age from nine to eighteen who are trained and directed by the Dominican Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Ever mindful that "to sing is to pray", the girls endeavor to put their whole heart and soul into their song, for the sole intention of praising and glorifying God in the sacred Liturgy of the Catholic Church. Their devoted love of the sacred music and enthusiam for its precise performance have enabled these girls to develop a repertoire of music, from Gregorian chant to polyphonic motets.

This is truly a unique choir with a unique sound. The angelic purity of the girls' voices combined with the simplicity of the arrangements lifts one's heart and mind and fills the soul with joy and peace. Devoid of any pretense or overproduced electronic enhancements, the harmonious blend of these innocent voices brings the sacred music of the Christmas season to life right before your ears. When you let yourself get lost in the meditative strains of these classic Christmas carols and hymns, you'll feel as though you're sitting in the pew at Midnight Mass on a snowy Christmas Eve.

Included with the CD is a high-quality booklet with English translations of all the songs and informative, historical backround information on each piece.

We hope you will enjoy this recording of some of our favorite Christmastide hymns and carols, and will make it a part of your Christmas traditions.

My new favorite Christmas CD
The Traditions of Christmas by the Saint Dominic Girls' Choir is my new favorite Christmas CD. Christmastide is a special time for music and this music is definitely special. You can hear the love and devotion in the purity of their sound. The choice of selections is perfect-some a cappella, some with organ accompaniment; some beautifully harmonized, others in sweet, strong unison. There are old favorites as well as little heard Gregorian chants. I hope this will be their first recording of many!
