ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
When Steve Deasy is not inventing electronic gizmos or ways to make cars run faster, safer, and pollute less, he loves to write and perform music. His inventions have been on the Space Shuttle and on cool cars like the Jaguar S-Type, the Aston Martin Vanquish, and the new Ford GT.

Steve is a multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, guitar, bass, and most other instruments which have strings or a keyboard. His main influences include James Taylor, Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Randy Newman, Jimmy Webb, Richard Thompson, Harry Nilsson, John Lennon, and Michael Peter Smith (the folksinger from Chicago, Illinois, not the Christian pop artist) and too many others to list.

The songs are well crafted, and are best classified as triple A, or Adult Album Alternative. If you are wondering what that means, just think folk, folk/rock, rock/pop, classic rock, blues, and alternative. Steve is a little retro, and so is his music.

While on a high altitude automotive test trip in the mountains of Colorado in 1998, Steve saw a flyer for the Durango Songwriting Expo featuring workshops with Jimmy Webb, one of his favorite songwriters and main influences. Drawn to meet Jimmy and rekindle his interest in music and writing, Steve returned to Durango one month later to attend the expo. He has been writing and improving his craft ever since.

This, his first CD, produced in collaboration with close friend and Pittsburgh-based producer Buddy Hall, is the culmination of those first efforts, but only a beginning. Steve says, "I may be late to the game, but I think this is what I was meant to do. I sincerely hope that my music will entertain people and show them something interesting. I appreciate your support I hope to do this for a long long time."

Listening to this freshman release, we hope so too!

COURAGE contains some of the best new music I've heard in years!
Every song has its own personality, however no song can stand alone on an album this good. Clever lyrics and musical innovation give this eclectic collection continuity. Difficult as it is to pick any, a few fav's are courage, in the court of judge martone, and packing slip..but I love em all.

Great songs, cool variety, very well recorded, clever lyrics , compelling sounds
Every one I have shown this cd to loves it and wants to buy it. Everyone that is except my redneck fishing buddies, it didn't keep their attention, but everyone else is impressed

Funny. I have seen this, but never heard it in a song!
I laughed so hard when I heard the words to in the Court of Judge Martone. This is what folk music is all about! A true story, put to music that I can play again and again. By the way, I am hoping Steve will write a sequel and apply his razor wit to the Mayor of Detroit, the Taylor Police, and to the rest of the Motor Cities Urban not legends. Funny funny funny.

I can listen to Courage again and again. Complex. Radiant Voice and Lyrics
Courage can be listened to just for how good it all sounds. Or take a second and a third listen and you will be laughing or asking yourself some of life's most important questions. And when you're done for the moment, this CD will stay on your favorite playlist. Strong new voice, I am waiting for the next CD.

Dreamy, mellow music with deep meaning in the lyrics
The mellow music and dynamic words express the heart and spirit of its creator. The CD brings up a variety of emotions from wistful humor to thick nostalgia. I especially like the depth of meaning in the words of "The Courage That Might Be In It."
